Jedem Kind ein Instrument

Information

The programme "An Instrument for Every Child" aims to fill school children with enthusiasm for music, from the first year to the fourth.

"An Instrument for Every Child" is part of the programme for the European Culture Capital 2010 in the Ruhr region of Germany. The initiative is dedicated to promoting cultural and musical education for our children, so as to encourage wider interest and enthusiasm for culture. By making music together, all students between the age of 6 to 10 years will learn to form their own impressions regarding aesthetics and develop their cultural skills.

"An Instrument for Every Child" has been developed by the Federal Cultural Foundation, the State of North-Rhine Westphalia and the Foundation for the Promotion of Education in the GLS Treuhand e.V.

The charitable foundation "An Instrument for Every Child" is the sponsor of the programme. The example of the Ruhr region of Germany shows how aesthetic education, the most important resource for passing on our cultural heritage and strengthening the level of commitment to culture, can be systematically expanded upon on a large scale and fortified. The long-term goal is to improve the basic conditions for cultural education in Germany.
