Jedem Kind ein Instrument

KinderOrchesterRuhr

The KinderOrchesterRuhr (Ruhr Region Children's Orchestra) has been part of the programme "An Instrument for Every Child" since March 2008. Around 70 musicians between the age of 8 to 14 years play together in the orchestra, inspiring enthusiasm among their peers in their age group for music and making music.

The KinderOrchesterRuhr aims to extend the orchestral elements of the "An Instrument for Every Child" programme. The fundamental thinking behind the programme and the promotion of the social integration of all social groups is to be continued by the KinderOrchesterRuhr.

The KinderOrchesterRuhr is an initiative by the State Government of North Rhine-Westphalia. The work of the members in the orchestra is intended to enhance their musical, social and personal skills. It has been initiated by state president Jürgen Rüttgers.

Pedagogical requirements
The repertoire of the KinderOrchesterRuhr is oriented towards the wide range of musical instruments available. In addition to the usual orchestra instruments, instruments from other countries such as the baglama or the bouzouki are to be included in the future. The literature consists of simple symphonic pieces and adaptations. Projects, workshops and holiday camps enable the children to learn intensively the positive aspects of working as part of an ensemble. Each year consists of two or three work phases, in each of which a new musical programme is studied. The climax of these work phases are the concerts in front of the children and parents in the Ruhr District, in North Rhine-Westphalia and far beyond the state borders.
